THQ Inc. has announced the promotion of industry veteran Rory Donnelly to the position of Senior Vice President, European publishing. In his new role Donnelly will be charged with leading THQ’s European operation back to profitability in line with the overall
global corporate strategy.
Executive Vice President, Global Publishing, Ian Curran commented, “Having managed the THQ offices in France, Benelux, Spain and Italy, Rory is very well placed to succeed me in managing the European business and continuing to drive presence and market share throughout the region”.
Donnelly commented, “I am excited to play a key role in driving THQ’s continued growth throughout Europe growing our market share in all of the key markets through our incredibly diverse portfolio.”
After graduating from Trinity in Dublin with a Degree in Marketing and a Masters in International Business Studies, Donnelly spent his first 10 years in the games industry at Konami where after a four year tenure in the Japanese office he went on to spend a year in the German office before setting up and overseeing the company’s French operation.
In 1999 he joined THQ France as Managing Director going on to open the THQ Benelux office in 2005 and in 2007 oversaw the German management team for 15 months while a new local Managing Director was appointed. In 2007 he was promoted to Vice President Southern Europe where he was also given the added responsibility for both the Spanish and Italian offices.
