Codemasters develops and publishes video games for Sony,
Nintendo and Microsoft consoles and PCs. Codemasters also develops and
publishes multi-player and persistent world games for on-line Internet
and interactive play.
Performance
Codemasters' performance has been one of consistent and accelerating
success. Profitable every year since start-up, turnover for the 12
months to 30.06.1999 was £59 million, with profit before tax of £21
million.
History
Established in 1986, Codemasters has a wealth of experience in the
creation and publishing of computer/video games. Consistent success is
reflected in the more than 1,000 weeks Codemasters' games have spent at
Number One in the UK charts and the more than 60 #1 hits across Europe.
Voted 'Publisher of the Year' in 1998 by Edge Magazine, Europe's leading
gaming consumer journal, Codemasters continues to grow into the global
marketplace.
Current position
Codemasters' record clearly illustrates its strength as a content
provider. This, coupled with its publishing expertise, has provided the
corporate flexibility to successfully adapt to what has, throughout its
15-year history, been an evolving marketplace. Thus Codemasters is
ideally positioned to take full advantage of the current metamorphosis
of the market with the advent of the Internet and other interactive
media networks. The New Media department is developing the new business
and gaming opportunities that are emerging as technology continues to
evolve. Such developments will enable Codemasters to move steadily to
full global exposure of its products.
The Future
Codemasters' success is founded upon a culture of excellence in gaming,
a true understanding of what games players want - and the ability to
create it. This is as true for Internet and on-line games as it is for
consoles and PCs. It is a technology- based culture, always at the
cutting edge of technical developments and innovations. This culture is
at the heart of Codemasters' current planning, preparing to maximise its
position in the exciting and growing world of electronic entertainment.
Codemasters currently employs over 380 personnel, with offices in the
USA, France, Germany, Spain and Holland. Headquarters are located in a
beautiful rural location in Central England on a 140 acre site. The
purpose-built office complex will ultimately accommodate 600 staff.
Further sustained growth is expected in 2002 with an impressive list of
titles, including Colin McRae Rally 3, TOCA Race Driver, Mike Tyson
Heavyweight Boxing, LMA Manager 2002 Euro, Prisoner of War and many
more. |
