Enlight is one of the world's leading developers of
entertainment software. The company was founded by Trevor Chan in 1993,
with a goal of creating games that are not only entertaining, but of
equal importance, enlightening.
Enlight's first product, Capitalism has won industry awards and received
accolades as the best business simulation game ever created. According
to PC Gamer, "Capitalism is the most realistic, detailed business sim on
the market today, and one of the best economic games of all time."
With its remarkably high degree of realism, Capitalism has made the leap
from playground to classroom. Harvard University and Stanford University
pioneered the use of this award-winning business simulation for
instructional purposes shortly after its release. Professor Tom Kosnik
said, "Capitalism is a world-class, hands-on learning experience I've
used at Stanford School of Engineering and Harvard Business School.
Gamers not only learn the subtleties of growing an entrepreneurial
business but also learn about leadership and team building necessary in
any business situation." Additionally, the game has also made its
appearance on Business Week, The Discovery Channel, and CNBC-TV Cable.
Following the success of the Capitalism series, Enlight ventured into
the real-time strategy game arena with its release of Seven Kingdoms.
Featuring a level of strategic depth previously unseen in any real-time
strategy game, Seven Kingdoms has been widely acclaimed by the media as
a deep and engrossing empire building game, and arguably the best
real-time empire builder, prompting GameSpot to declare "...there hasn't
been an empire builder this good since Civilization II... Seven Kingdoms
is an outstanding game in every way."
1999 – Saw the release of Seven Kingdoms II which takes the intrigue and
thrills of the original empire-builder to the next level with
breathtaking scenes featuring magnificent architecture and epic battles.
2000 – Enlight released Virtual U, a university simulation game
co-developed with Dr. William Massy who formerly served as Stanford
University's chief financial officer as well as vice president for
business and finance. Virtual U is now in use by more than 30
universities as a training tool in higher education management courses.
2001 – Capitalism II, the sequel to the award-winning Capitalism, was
released after much anticipation and fanfare. With a rating of 9 out of
10, it received the Editor’s Choice Award from IGN.com.
2002 – Enlight released two titles: Hotel Giant and Virtual U 2.0. Hotel
Giant is an extremely detailed 3D hotel simulation, which takes
realistic business simulation to a new frontier. Virtual U version 2.0
offers significant enhancement over its predecessor and will help
reinforce the simulation’s reputation as the best learning tool for
higher education management courses.
Into 2003, Enlight is making an entry into the publishing business,
establishing Enlight Interactive Inc., the US publishing arm of the
Enlight group as well as consolidating strategic partnerships with
distributors the world over.
Leading the product line-up of Enlight’s publishing operation is
Restaurant Empire, a 3D simulation of the restaurant business that
offers a story-driven campaign with an innovative combination of
business simulation and RPG elements and promises to breathe new life
into the business simulation genre. |
