EyeToy: Play Moves Over One Million 27th October – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is pleased to announce that it has sold over 1 million copies of its multi-award winning ‘EyeToy: Play’ title in less that 4 months since its European release. ‘EyeToy’ is a small web type camera which when connected to PlayStation® 2 opens up a new world in home entertainment. ‘EyeToy: Play’ is the first game to use this innovative technology and contains 12 crazy games which cover a variety of subjects from living room football to do it yourself kung foo to robot boxing. In each of these games the player takes centre stage since, via the ‘EyeToy’ camera, the player’s image is broadcast through the TV within the game itself. The player’s body movement in front of the camera determines the course of events in the game. For the first time the player really is the star of the show. An active alternative to other forms of home entertainment ‘EyeToy: Play’ is a completely new experience. Using body movements to control the game ‘EyeToy: Play’ is not complicated to use. All over the world families, friends and players of all ages are attracted to ‘EyeToy: Play’ by its simple operation, easy to understand games, unadulterated fun…and of course, seeing each other on TV! This November sees the European release of ‘EyeToy: Play’s’ sister product ‘EyeToy: Groove’ which takes the raw fun of ‘EyeToy: Play’ and throws in a groovy sound track of 25 fully licensed songs and then challenges you to dance! Featured artists include Madonna, Elvis, Fatboy Slim and Misteeq. Players will be invited to take to the floor in front of their TV to perform special dance moves in time with the music - hitting the rhythm zones, posing, waving and swiping. Bonus points are on offer for how much the player moves their body, so the groovier the dancing the higher the score. Sky high scores will be rewarded with even more features. ‘EyeToy: Play’s’ continued success is assured with its forthcoming 4th November North American release and Japanese release on 28th January. Whilst the introduction of ‘EyeToy: Groove’ will keep ‘EyeToy’ at the top of the charts in Europe. Although impressive, 1 million unit sales is only the start for this entertainment phenomenon.
